Preventing Frostbite

Dec 12, 2023
Winter Shoe Drive all of December!
2023 marks the 2nd year for our annual Winter Shoe/Boot Drive

Training in metro Detroit, every winter we would have to perform amputations on patients who were left in the cold and sustained frostbite injuries so severe that there was nothing else to do.  Having an amputation is one of the most horrible outcomes for our patients.  Unfortunately, 50% of patients who lose a leg will pass away within 3 years after their amputation.

In order to prevent amputations due to frostbite, Precision Foot & Ankle Center continues to hold a Winter Shoe Drive for the month of December.  This marks the 2nd year that Precision Foot & Ankle Center will be donating all warm socks and footwear to those who battle homelessness here in metro Detroit.  We will be giving all donations to Hope Shelter in Pontiac.

So what can you do?  Go through your closet.  Make room for the new and drop off your warm socks, shoes, and boots.  You can save a patient's foot, or even their life.

To help your community, drop off your donations to Precision Foot & Ankle Center at 6900 Orchard Lake Road, Suite #207 in West Bloomfield anytime during clinic hours in the month of December.

Hope Shelter, your community, and I thank you.

Happy holidays.
